My Journey in Photography
Ever since I was little I had an interest in photography. When i was 10 my grandma gave me a little Samsung point and shoot camera which I would take with me when I went camping with the Boys Brigade.
Although it wasn't until I turned 18 that I truly started to take photography seriously.
My journey in photography started a little less legally than others. In 2018 my friend Cam and I would explore abandoned buildings in our local area and create videos about our adventures for YouTube.
Here are some of my favourite photos from those adventures:
When I wasn't photographing abandoned buildings, I was capturing strong emotions in people, which led me into protest photography. During Covid times which Im sure we all still remember quite well, I would take a train into birmingham on a friday and photograph whatever protest was taking place that day.
Here are some of the photos that speak the loudest from such events:
Moving on from protests, I quite enjoy photographing people which has led me to an ongoing series that I am working on which I like to call "Strangers".
In this series of photographs I look for people that I find interesting, either how they are dressed or just that I feel their face tells a story, and I stop them and ask the if I can take their photo. In doing this, it also helps me to build my confidence and deal with rejection, because the worse thing someone can say is "no".
Here are some of the people that allowed me to take their portrait:
